A major UK supermarket, Aldi, has issued an urgent recall of its £3.99 Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks from store shelves. The immediate withdrawal was prompted by the discovery that the product contains milk, an allergen not declared on the packaging label. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) confirmed that this packaging error poses a potential health risk to consumers with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, reports The WP Times with reference to The Sun
The specific product packets affected are 360g in weight and bear a use-by date of October 26, 2025. The FSA explicitly stated that the health risk is due to this labelling error. Aldi is strongly advising any customers who have purchased the steaks and have a milk allergy or intolerance not to eat them.

Instead, customers are instructed to return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. The retailer has issued point-of-sale notices across its stores to inform customers of the recall and guide them on the necessary steps. For further details, customers can visit aldi or contact customer services at 0800 042 0800.
This incident follows a series of recent product recalls by the supermarket chain. Just days prior, Aldi was forced to pull Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream from sale after it was found to contain undeclared wheat (gluten), which presented a risk to individuals with coeliac disease and/or a wheat or gluten allergy.
Previous alerts also involved the recall of Specially Selected 4 Cheddar Cheese Scotch Beef Quarter Pounder Burgers, which retailed for £3.29, due to undeclared gluten. Furthermore, the supermarket had previously advised customers not to eat its Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes after they were found to contain unlisted milk. Earlier still, a recall was issued for BM Foods Ltd sandwich filling Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings due to the potential presence of plastic pieces and a choking hazard.
