Three weeks after a severe accident on stage, Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is critically fighting for her life in Bangkok. The 28-year-old ophthalmologist sustained grave injuries, including a brain haemorrhage, after falling from the stage during the Miss Universe pageant on November 19. The organizers and her family have now publicly shared details regarding her critical condition. The incident occurred during the semi-finals of the Miss Universe pageant in mid-November, and according to a joint statement from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and Henry’s family, she suffered a “brain haemorrhage with loss of consciousness, a fracture, facial injuries and other serious injuries.” She remains in critical condition under constant neurological monitoring and requires 24-hour care, reports The WP Times citing the Вluewin.
Following the fall, the contestant was immediately rushed and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Bangkok due to the severity of her injuries. The statement from the MUO and the family emphasized that the 28-year-old has been battling for her life since the incident occurred.
The Miss Universe Organization has taken responsibility for and covered all expenses related to Gabrielle Henry's treatment and accommodation in Thailand up to this point. Furthermore, the organization has pledged comprehensive support for her eventual repatriation and continued recovery. Upon her return to Jamaica, she will be accompanied by a dedicated medical team and immediately transferred directly to a hospital to ensure the continuity of her specialized care. The MUO has also committed to covering any subsequent treatment she may require after her transfer home.
