Iconic Italian actress Monica Bellucci and celebrated American director Tim Burton have officially ended their two-year romance, confirming their separation in a joint statement to the news agency AFP. The couple, who kept their relationship largely private, did not disclose the reasons behind their split but emphasized that the decision was mutual and amicable. The story of Bellucci and Burton's connection began more than 17 years ago at the Cannes Film Festival. Although they didn't maintain contact at the time, the director was reportedly always deeply impressed by the actress.
Their romance officially began much later, with the pair first spotted together on a Valentine’s Day stroll in February 2023. At the time, they were photographed embracing and kissing, sparking widespread speculation. Bellucci officially confirmed their relationship in June of the same year, sharing that their partnership was a source of creative inspiration for both of them.
During their relationship, the couple also collaborated professionally on the film Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Burton directed the project while Bellucci took on the role of the witch Dolores, showcasing their unique synergy both on and off-screen.
One of the couple’s last public appearances together was at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy this July, where they openly displayed their affection for one another on the red carpet.
