Ukraine and Russia are currently engaged in negotiations exclusively on humanitarian issues, with a specific focus on the release of prisoners of war. Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, made this statement in a recent interview with CNN, providing a rare update on the communication between the two warring nations. As reported by The WP Times, citing the CNN.

When asked if full-scale peace talks to end the conflict were underway, Umerov clarified that discussions were limited to the "humanitarian part, where we are freeing prisoners of war." This ongoing dialogue highlights one of the few areas of cooperation that has continued throughout the war.

Umerov also noted that Ukraine is awaiting the results of bilateral and trilateral meetings agreed upon during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent visit to Washington alongside other European leaders. These high-level meetings are expected to pave the way for further diplomatic efforts, though a timeline for their outcome remains unclear.
