Samsung Electronics officially unveiled its new flagship device—the Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone—which ushers in a new era of mobile form factors. This innovative phone is the result of the company's decade-long leadership in developing foldable devices and features a unique design that allows it to unfold twice. When fully opened, it transforms into an immersive 10-inch display, offering maximum productivity for mobile work and cinematic viewing. The Galaxy Z TriFold combines the ultra-performance of a premium phone with the largest screen ever built into a Samsung foldable device, reports The WP Times with reference to Samsung.
"Samsung's relentless pursuit of new possibilities continues to shape the future of mobile experiences," said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President, and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. "Through years of innovation, the Galaxy Z TriFold delivers the perfect balance between portability, premium performance, and productivity, all in one device." The new device, measuring only 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, is powered by the customized Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy. The smartphone is equipped with a 200 MP camera and the largest battery among Samsung foldable devices—a 5,600 mAh three-cell system, strategically placed across each of the three panels. The battery supports 45 W super-fast charging.
To enable the unique folding mechanism, Samsung refined the Armor FlexHinge, utilizing two differently sized hinges with a dual-rail structure. This ensures smoother and more stable folding, as well as a minimal gap between the panels. For durability, the exterior features a titanium hinge housing and an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, while the back panel is made from ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer. The device holds an IP48 water resistance rating.
Productivity on the 10-inch display is significantly enhanced by powerful features. The screen allows simultaneous work across three portrait-sized applications or the use of standalone Samsung DeX—a first for a mobile phone—which enables the creation of up to four workspaces, each capable of running up to five applications simultaneously. All device capabilities are boosted by Galaxy AI features, including Photo Assist, Browsing Assist, and the enhanced Gemini Live, which utilizes multimodal AI. Customers who purchase the Galaxy Z TriFold will receive a 6-month trial of Google AI Pro and a one-time 50% discount on display repair costs.
The main screen is a Dynamic 2X AMOLED with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1600 nits (cover screen reaches 2600 nits). Visual comfort is ensured by the Vision Booster function. Sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold are expected to begin in Korea on December 12, 2025.
