Volvo plans to launch the EX60 with three main powertrain variants, each aimed at a different type of buyer:
- P6: rear-wheel drive, single motor, around 369bhp, with a claimed 0–62mph time of 5.9 seconds and up to roughly 385 miles of range.
- P10: dual-motor all-wheel drive, around 503bhp, 0–62mph in about 4.6 seconds and up to 410 miles of range.
- P12: high-performance dual-motor version with up to 671bhp, a 0–62mph sprint of around 3.9 seconds and the headline 505-mile range figure.
All versions are electronically limited to 112mph, underlining that the EX60 is positioned as a fast but safety-focused family SUV rather than a performance car.
Cross Country version for rougher roads
Alongside the standard model, Volvo will offer an EX60 Cross Country. This variant features tougher exterior styling, additional body protection and a raised ride height of around 20mm. Initially, it will be sold with the P10 all-wheel-drive powertrain, appealing to buyers who want light off-road ability or regularly drive on poor rural roads.
Software-defined car and interior technology
The EX60 is the first Volvo built entirely around the company’s new “software-defined vehicle” approach. Its operating system, often referred to as Volvo’s Superset technology stack, is designed to control everything from drivetrain behaviour to infotainment and driver-assistance features.
Inside, the cabin moves away from older Volvo layouts with a new horizontal touchscreen and a cleaner, more open Scandinavian design. The SUV is also expected to launch with advanced driver-assistance systems rated at Level 2+ autonomy, allowing hands-free driving in certain conditions while still requiring driver attention.
Size and practicality
At just over 4.8 metres long, the EX60 sits squarely in the mid-size SUV class. Boot space is quoted at around 523 litreswith the rear seats up, expanding to nearly 1,000 litres when folded flat. There is also a front storage compartment (“frunk”) for charging cables. Volvo has focused heavily on clever storage solutions, including under-floor compartments designed for everyday family use.
UK pricing and launch expectations
Final UK pricing for the Volvo EX60 has not yet been officially confirmed, but industry and retail estimates indicate a starting price between £55,000 and £58,000 for the entry-level P6 rear-wheel-drive version. Dual-motor P10 AWDmodels are expected to begin from around £60,000, with the high-performance P12 variant likely to command a significant premium above that level.
This pricing strategy places the EX60 directly in competition with the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology, while potentially undercutting larger and more expensive premium electric SUVs. Volvo is expected to use range and charging speed — rather than outright luxury positioning — as its key differentiators in the UK market.
