U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call during which they discussed the potential delivery of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, reports The WP Times with reference to Axios.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, Trump raised the topic of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles. Such weapons would allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory, including areas near Moscow. The Ukrainian side believes that deploying these systems could pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in peace negotiations.
It was not disclosed whether a final decision on the missile deliveries has been made. The conversation between the presidents lasted about 30 minutes. Zelensky described it as "very positive and productive." The Ukrainian president also congratulated Trump on a peace agreement in Gaza, noting that if that conflict could be resolved, ending the war with Russia is also possible.
After the call, Zelensky mentioned agreements with Trump on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense systems. Recently, Donald Trump surprised the public by stating that the decision to send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine is nearly finalized.
