The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Brusylo, participated in the inaugural session of the strategic dialogue focusing on the centenary partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The meeting was co-chaired by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper. The delegations addressed critical issues including military and financial support for Ukraine, ensuring resilience during the winter, and the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Discussions also covered the intensification of sanctions pressure on Russia and the provision of robust security guarantees to Ukraine, reports The WP Times with reference to the Website of the President of Ukraine.
Particular attention was dedicated to the urgent issue of returning Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and enhancing collaboration with key international partners of both Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, the participants reviewed coordination efforts with the United States and other allies within international security frameworks, along with strategies to bolster support for Ukraine among nations of the Global South.
During the session, the two nations successfully formulated a joint position on foreign policy, peace initiatives, and stabilisation efforts. This agreement marks a major preparatory milestone ahead of the forthcoming meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
Ihor Brusylo also held separate meetings, including a session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK House of Commons, as well as with the Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell, and his team.
“The United Kingdom plays a leading role in all multilateral platforms aimed at supporting Ukraine: the Coalition of the Willing, the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, the Joint Expeditionary Force. During all meetings, the British partners consistently stressed: the security of Ukraine is the security of the United Kingdom, and Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression is a struggle for the future of all Europe,” stated the Deputy Head of the President's Office.
Brusylo also engaged in discussions with the team from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), which is currently conducting analysis on increasing Ukraine’s capabilities, weakening Russia’s war machine, and strengthening sanctions regimes.
The news follows an announcement that President Zelenskyy recently honoured servicemen and women of Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces with "Golden Star" Orders and other state awards, including posthumous honours for the families of fallen Heroes.
